Error 522: Connection Timed Out Print

Cloudflare waited and got nothing.

WHAT IT MEANS

Cloudflare opened a connection and our server did not respond within the allowed time.

THE COMMON CAUSES

Resource exhaustion, particularly entry processes The server under heavy load A network issue between Cloudflare and us Too many connections held open

THE MOST LIKELY ON SHARED HOSTING

Your account hit a resource limit, so requests queued and were never served.

Check cPanel > Resource Usage > Details for the period.

If entry processes or CPU were at the limit, that is the cause.

THE FIX

Enable server-side caching, which is the single largest reduction in resource consumption available.

Block bot traffic, which consumes processes like any visitor.

Move backups and scheduled work to quiet hours.

IF RESOURCES LOOK FINE

Open a ticket with the times. A network problem between Cloudflare and us is possible and we can check.

WHY IT APPEARS INTERMITTENT

Resource limits are hit at peak moments. The site works, then briefly does not, then works again.

That pattern is characteristic.
